Xbox 360

My 360 hasn't been used much lately, mostly only to play GTA IV (Still. The. Best. Ever. Game). Even though I have 100%'ed it already, I love the multiplayer, loads of fun!
I am waiting for my copy of Saints Row 2 to arrive (should have come yesterday, bought the Limited Edition) and for Midnight Club 2: Los Angeles (being released on Tuesday the 21st so I should have it by Wednesday/Thursday. A very busy gaming weekend awaits me, 2 Grade A games being released one after the other... so little time, so much to do.

I bought two games, Battlefield 2: Modern Combat and Transformers, The Game. The first one because I believe that the time has come for me to start playing FPS's ( I am bloody useless at them) and second just to have some fun and get a few achievements on the way...

I've only added 715 poins in the last 2 weeks because I have been busy at work but with the new games that I got last week and the two new ones coming, expect some improvements.

Here is an update:

Windows Vista woes

My laptop is back. I got a new 160GB laptop SATA hdd so my laptop is up and running again.
Microsoft says it takes an hour or less to install Windows Vista. Bollocks. Bullshit.
It took me an hour to install Vista, another 4 hours to install all available updates, another hour to download and install Service Pack 1, then one or two hours to install all basic and necessary software: AVG anti-virus, K-Lite codec, MS Office, Nero 8, Real Player, Win Rar, Bittorrent, Daemon Tools and Printer drivers.
All in all it took me two days of intensive computing and many, many restarts to finally have a working laptop.
Still, it is much better than Linux (Ubuntu) which I felt was un-intuitive, troublesome and a pain in the arse to work with which I believe why I keep coming to Windows and its familiarity and its BSOD's and constant updating, etc.
Can't live with it, can't live without it.

Busy week.

I haven't updated this blog in a while because I've been busy at work and my laptop's HDD decided it doesn't want to work with Windows Vista so I had to find a nice Linux OS (Ubuntu) to get by until I get the new HDD next week.

Back to topic.

This week I bought 2 new games, Hot Wheels Take That and Pure.

Hot Wheels is basically a series of mini games that you have to beat to unlock new ones to move forward. Great fun and a bit challenging. It's one of those games that I'll play when I want a break from all the serious gaming or when I have mates around. I recommend it, specially if you have children at home.

Now, Pure. What a game! The graphics are just unbelievable, the sense of speed and the available trickery are just off the top drawer and the difficulty is just the right one, hard if you make a mistake, fair you are good. Comparing to the other two off-roading games that I have (Sega Rally and Collin McRae Dirt), this one is really in between them in terms of difficulty and gaming performance.

If you have a Xbox 360 or, God forbid, a PS3, get this game! Any gamer will be able to love something about this game, either the races or the freestyle events.

I already pre-ordered Midnight Club-Los Angeles and I should get either next Saturday (11/10) or the following Monday.
Once I have a few hours of playing about with it, I'll post my thought on that game. All previews on specialist site so far are great so this could be THE driving game of the year. Let's hope so.

As I am Portuguese but I am in the United Kingdom, my Xbox Live Gold account is based in the UK, I am curious to know what would my position on the Portugal leaderboards.
After a bit of searching about, here it is:

145th place, between Karnage10 and DesertEagle75.

Not bad, not bad at all!

Games to sell.

Because I need to create some place for the new incoming games, I'll be getting rid of some of those games that don't really interest me any more:

- Football Manager 2006
- NHL 2K6
- NBA LIVE 06
- Monster Madness, Battle for Suburbia
- Rockstar's Table Tennis
- Sonic The Hedgehog
- Fuzion Frenzy 2

If you want them, they will be on eBay from Sunday the 29th of September 2008 until Friday the 3rd of October 2008, under user name "mascal4".

Games to buy.

My next games to be bought are Pure, Baja, Midnight Club Los Angeles and Saints Row 2.
The new NFS: Undercover is also a target.
These games should keep me occupied until Christmas.

20,000 Gamerscore

Today I hit a milestone: 20,000 Gamerscore.
This was done while playing NBA Live 06, a game I bought exactly for this purpose, i.e., to gain enough G's to reach 20,000.
Now that I finally manage to get that, 30,000 is my next target which I hope to get until March next year.

Each achievement.

I'll try to post every game and all achievements, bit by bit.
This will probably take ages to finish so bear with me. As of tomorrow, I'll try to go in order of Most Completed to Less Completed.
Some of them were quite easy (any of Avatar's) others satisfying (Keys to the City on GTA IV) and others downright impossible (some of NFS: Carbon).
You, the reader, will soon have an idea which games I play for fun and which ones I play for the Achievements.
If someone ever knows how to do any achievement that I don't have or wants to know how I've done one, keep me posted.

Today's score.

As of today, these are the basic details about my gaming on the Xbox 360 since the 18th of December 2007:

Number of Games: 98
Total Score: 19428 out of 57135
Total Achievements: 797 out of 2267
